Community Facilities play a key role in growth and development. Facilities, like police, fire and ambulance, are directly related to the protection of public health, safety and welfare. Others, such as education, recreation and library facilities, are more generally related to the overall quality of life. The availability of adequate community facilities is an important indicator of an area’s capability and desirability for development.
Community Facilities information was previously included in the York County Comprehensive Plan as a supporting Resource Document, but is now available on the York County Planning Commission Website as a Story Map. In this format, the information is easier to keep updated, more readily accessible, and offers electronic mapping for determining the location and availability of community services and facilities throughout the County.
