Multi-Modal Planning

Bicycle & Pedestrian

YAMPO focuses bicycle and pedestrian improvements within rabbittransit’s fixed route service area. YAMPO primarily funds bicycle and pedestrian projects through its allocation of Transportation Alternatives Set-Aside Program funding.

Organizations

YCPC Transportation Planning staff also works with local, regional, and state organizations on bicycle and pedestrian issues. These organizations include the:

Commuter Services

With eight other MPOs, YAMPO funds Commuter Services of Pennsylvania, a professionally staffed organization that provides free services that help commuters find alternatives to driving to work alone.

Freight

YCPC Transportation Planning staff participates in regional freight planning efforts.

Transit

The Susquehanna Regional Transportation Authority is funded in part by YAMPO, and SRTA’s Board of Directors serve as the YAMPO Transit Committee. Through the Transportation Improvement Program, the YAMPO Coordinating Committee approves SRTA capital and operating expenses. YCPC Transportation Planning staff work closely with SRTA staff on transit planning efforts, most notably by leading the development of rabbittransit Transit Development Plans and the Coordinated Public Transit-Human Services Transportation Plan.

Monitoring Reports

Between updates to the Long Range Transportation Plan, YAMPO produces reports about the condition of various aspects of the transportation network. YAMPO updates these reports on a regular basis, as new data becomes available.

AVIATION

Planning for airport projects is not within YAMPO’s jurisdiction. The GOYORK2045 Metropolitan Transportation Plan (PDF) includes a brief inventory of aviation facilities in York County.
